I had been trying to go to Barrio Chino for a while but they don’t take reservations which makes it quite difficult for a last minute jaunt on a Friday night. Sometimes they’ll even rudely exclaim “Don’t know how long. We’re busy. Bye”. My boyfriend and I dying for a good margarita and some good Mexican nosh decided to go on the earlier side and try (once again) for a coveted spot at the bar. Even though I had had rude experiences in the past with the hostesses, something inside me still wanted to try this highly rated spot and see what the fuss was about.

I arrived early as I knew Josh would be a little late and I had the time to wait and hold the fort down, however I was told I would have to wait until my partner arrived, and there I saw the three last tables being taken. I was pissed. Luckily, the waitress was sympathetic, knew my boyfriend was arriving in less than 5 minutes and gave me the next seat that opened up (just as Josh arrived). On we went washing away our weeks with deliciously strong margs and really really good food. I ordered a shrimp and rice dish which was really flavorful. The mezcal margarita was a nice smokey touch. The crowd was fun and bartenders extremely friendly and attentive. We’ll be back (on an early weeknight;)
